Eligibility Criteria for B.Ed Course
The following are the eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Ed course at Vinayaga Education College:
- Academic Qualifications: The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3 (15) or 11+1+3 (15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board, CBSE, or any other recognized Board of Education/Examination and U.G. Degree examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary/Higher Secondary Education level.
- Open University System: Candidates who have passed the U.G. or P.G. degree in Open University System without qualifying in the 11 years SSLC examination and 1 year of Pre-University Course (P.U.C.) examination or 10+2 pattern of School Education examination shall not be considered for admission.
- Double/Triple Major System: Candidates who have taken more than one main subject in Part III/Part IV (under Double/Triple Major System) of U.G. degree course should choose only one of the main subjects for the B.Ed application. Marks obtained in all major subjects will be used to calculate the percentage of marks as per the eligibility criteria.
- Additional Degree Programme: Candidates who have passed Additional Degree Programmes with less than three years duration are not eligible for admission.
- Four-year Dual Degree Programme: Candidates who have passed under the four-year Dual Degree Programme with two major subjects under Part III are not eligible for admission.
- 5-Year Integrated Course: Candidates who have qualified in P.G. degree (5-year Integrated Course) under 10+2+5 or 11+1+5 pattern of study will be considered for admission, with the P.G. marks taken into account for B.Ed. course eligibility.
- Specialization Eligibility: Specific U.G. degree requirements for various specializations include:
- Applied Mathematics for Mathematics.
- Applied Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics, Electronics for Physical Science.
- Bio-Chemistry, Applied Chemistry for Physical Science.
- Bio-Technology, Plant-Biology for Biological Science.
- Environmental Science, Micro-Biology for Biological Science.
- Applied Geography for Geography.
- Computer Science, Information Technology for Computer Science.
- Post Graduate qualifications in specific subjects with 50% marks can also apply.
- Community-wise Marks Criteria: Minimum marks required for admission based on community/category:
- OC: 50%
- BC: 45%
- MBC/DNC: 43%
- SC: 40%
- Open University System for U.G. Degree: Only candidates who have completed their Bachelor's Degree through the Open University system after passing 10th and +2 Examinations are eligible for admission.
- P.G. Degree Restrictions: Post Graduate degree qualifications in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic, and Indian Culture without undergoing the required 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 education pattern shall not be considered for B.Ed admission.
Duration of the B.Ed Course:
The B.Ed course duration is two academic years under the CBCS Semester Pattern.
